1. Don’t fetch your mail constantly – turn to push every hour or simply check email a couple of times of day and create greater peace and less distraction, too!

To turn it off: Navigate to Settings>Mail>Fetch New Data and change “Push” To OFF.

2. Do you really need Music Equalizer when music is simply coming through a phone. Save the good sounds for a system and keep your phone simple.

To turn it off: Navigate to Settings>Music>Set EQ to OFF.

3. Secure and Save Battery! Turn the Auto-Lock to one minute! So you need to swipe and open – at least your phone is not d-e-a-d! Save battery and Auto-Lock sooner.

To change this: Navigate to Settings>General>Auto-Lock, then tap on 1 Minute.

4. I paid for 4G but do you really need it? all the time? think about it? Use my phone quickly and have a dead battery… that’s no fun!

To Turn Wi-Fi on: Navigate to Settings>Wi-Fi> Toggle Wi-Fi To On and select the local network [including password if needed].

Turn off Notifications.

TIME HAS COME FOR THE 2015 HARVEST SEASON!

I remember as a young girl I loved the Excitement and Potential of New Year’s Eve!  Not only the Celebration, Friends, Loud Noises and Unexplainable Spontaneity and Laughter but also the quiet meditation with my quiet voice inside.  My quiet voice is much stronger than the loud green horns that toot irritating noise to others.  The quiet voice is meaningful and full of “know alls” about my personal self.

Who doesn’t like to talk about themselves, even to yourself?

I found great reward in making great lists and reviewing my intentions with black check marks and strike outs and revisions.  I spent so much time on my list that I could recite everything I wanted to do, in addition to that which I did not do.

I then since matured and read the book, “ONE WORD” by Jimmy Paige and Dan Britton.  I had already adapted this concept and honestly admit I was saddened that someone else had written a book, on a thought so simplistic.

Why hadn’t I done this?

So this year, is the year TO DO!  Michael, my husband and partner, feels strong urgency to produce as the season is the “harvest”!

As we prepare for 2015 there are many indications of harvest.

The year before the Presidential Election is always awesome for real estate!  In my over two decades I have seen this phenomenon over a half dozen times.  I don’t think it means things are better, it means that every effort politically, is made to make things appear better and then SO BE IT!  

2015 is mid-decade and there is a psychological effect in getting over the hump!  Half way through the race, the week or the decade brings forth a spurt of energy and hope that produces an even greater winning spirit!

The economic downturn is boring now.  We have experienced pain and suffering and lived through it.  We have talked about economics and restructured everything from types of employment, types of employees, regulations, insurance, taxes, loans and phones!  We are done!  We are ready for the good news and for heavens sake, if I need to ACT AS IF, I will.

The need to move is pent up and frustrating!  Housing is a strong incentive to a growing economy.  Most of us have had our transitions on hold.  We are either unable or afraid to move on financially.  During the downturn, children have been born and families are bigger and children have left home and families are smaller!  There are marriages, job transfers, style changes, and interest rate changes and yet we have remained the same, till now.

Now, THE TIME HAS COME!

Pack your bags and your boxes and get ready for a new adventure.  Buy up or buy down but get your values and lifestyles in alignment with your material worldly status.  If you are not sure, you never will be and 2015 is the year to try!  We always have enough in America.  Somehow the American Spirit of Adventure and Truth Seeking can carry us through the unknown.  Do not be afraid – be intentional.

Whether you make a long list and continue to tediously add the black checks or choose ONE WORD – do it!

Mine is to write, while producing greater systems to produce greater actions to help others achieve their goals.  We sell houses, we teach brokers, we lead a National Organization and have Patent-Pendings for some great systems to help homeowners move with confidence!

Here are some ideas for you?

  1. What have you been waiting to do – but have been uncertain of when? Do it now.
  2. What is your “silent” gift? stop waiting & pursue opportunity? Now is the time.
  3. Are you balanced – business – family – spiritual – health – personal?  Live joyfully.
  4. Do you have a friend?  This is key!  Develop an accountability partner, like in the picture.  A family member, spiritual companion, business partner, girlfriend ….  enjoy the journey.  The journey is your story!  Tell It!  Live it!

I went to 23 different schools before graduating high school! I learned to say “yes sir”, put my hand over my heart, and stand silent when the colors were raised or lowered.  I learned to do my best which includes admitting when I am wrong.  My father dedicated his life so we might enjoy freedom! So our children and grandchildren might enjoy freedom!  Being a Marine brat wasn’t easy but I did learn priceless lessons – like respect and gratitude!  Which is why I sought to work with a company that puts culture first, FATHOM REALTY.

7 WAYS TO Say Thank you To a Teacher or Coach!

It’s the time of year where we begin to look ahead to summer fun!

Make vacation plans and trade in routine and early evenings for spontaneous overnight vacations and sun-filled days!  But before you do I recommend we pause, and remember how grateful we are for our HOMETOWN HERO TEACHERS AND COACHES!

 

It has been a great year – even if it’s not your best year – It is a great year!  The relationships and time our teachers and coaches have invested in our families is to be rewarded with a great big THANK YOU!  And maybe this year it is time to do a little more!  With hearts that give 100% it would be nice to give in return!  Here are 7 things every teacher/coach would appreciate.

 

  1. Dinner – SCORE!  Plan a special event at an inexpensive venue (say Moe’s)  pass out an invite to parents and kids for a night of celebration…let the children recount their favorite stories about the year, the coach, the teacher, funny and sad events, alike!  If you can’t get the team or class to attend – try just a small group or even your family and their family!  Build Relationships!
  2. Gift Card – If organizing an event is impossible for you, why not allow our HOMETOWN HERO enjoy a night on the town free of charge!  A gift card to a fun restaurant can relieve the stress and reward someone who cared for your family.  Make it fun… add a party hat or favors OR FLIP FLOPS! to establish this is a celebration time and you really want to make it known that he/she is APPRECIATED.
  3. Short Video – Would you invest a day for someone that gives you a year in return!  Sounds like a little appreciation may be deserved when you compare the inspiration and knowledge received.  Spend a day at the class or practice and interview the children / young adults on video!  Or take still pictures and put together a book of stills “Called June 2014” – Memories are precious – and pictures keep those memories alive – everlasting and priceless!
  4. Tell Others – write a letter of appreciation and submit it to the school board, principal, sport leaders or association!  It is nice to be appreciated but even nicer when that appreciation pays off!  When others brag about you – the words take on a whole level of meaning and depth!  A teacher/coach can’t go around saying how great they are (it would be meaningless) but if you write a letter – post a blog – or write on the status line!  The feeling takes on life!  Better yet – ask others to do the same….  Who knows – maybe they will get a nomination or a raise!  After all they deserve it – so      take the initiative and get your fingers typing!  Add a picture!
  5. Something of Value – The work doesn’t end with this year there is next year!  Buy something of value for the team or classroom!  Maybe we haven’t done all we could throughout this year – but you can help prepare for next year.  Undercover you can ask – what is the one thing that you wish you would have had this year – or what project was the most effective this year!  Take a collection if it’s something big and help that teacher/coach look forward to 2015!  Teachers and coaches spend a lot of personal money – and a little contribution leads to inspiration that it is really appreciated!  Good for you, good for them and really good for the next years students too!
  6. Help a teacher / coach pack or babysit while they do – bring them lunch after everyone has gone home.  Teachers and coaches don’t get to walk out the door on the last day of school!   A bit melancholy sometimes!  It would be great to see a cheerful face walk in with a roll of tape or a delicious refreshing salad or tropical smoothie.  It doesn’t have to be much – sometimes the warm hug at the end of the year is all it takes – but if you spice it up with “an apple” then it takes on a deeper level of communication.  Pre meditated thankfulness – that’s what we need!
  7. Don’t make it your fred chatham bridgedream home.  Wow that sounds crazy, or actually not!

If you are building your dream home, everything has to be perfect!  and it will not!  Don’t put the added pressure on your self, your relationship, and your builder.  Get it mostly right – develop the overall vision!  What are you trying to accomplish?  When do you want to move in?

Remember that engineers and architects are much like that of the lawyers and our industry leaders.  We must always understand the mission is to build a long lasting and safe structure.  We must decide the mission.  In our case homes and contracts are designed for safety, security and comfort.

We want a contract that will not cave in and damage the very people it was built to protect,

much like a house.

It is also built to offer us the ability to feel secure that the methods

have been tried and true.

We would like to know we have comfort while in the house.

We can then do additions, or modifications only

with the guidance and expertise of the trained professional

involved in that area of concern.

The contract is built to protect the industry professionals and the clients/customers they serve.  It is very important

we understand this concept as entrepreneurs, as we are often look for methods to improve the typical

and offer bigger and better and often succumb to the ego in a desire to be more creative.

Click to viewSometimes we are lured to make changes when we don’t know the effect.  For instance, if we make

the staircase more beautiful, just add a few steps, it would of course be important to remember the ceiling will

be taller.  This seems so innocent – much like a contract exception!  Bigger stairs and taller ceiling, that is what everyone

wants!  But then you must realize the alteration will shorten the available air space for the second floor or you will need

to expand the structure which might include the foundation!  Much like the effects of contract exceptions!

It seems so insignificant I just wanted two more stairs, why would I change the foundation.

This as REALTORS, is where we must seek counsel and wise vision.  So often, we are lured

into the seeming simplicity of a request.  After all, it is our wish to give the client what they

want.  But remember, do not step outside your boundaries of expertise!

Attorneys draw up contracts and architects design homes, as the contractor or the REALTOR

we do not have the experience to see what challenges might lie ahead.  These challenges

might harm the very persons you are trying to protect.

Back to the house, if we raise the stairs inside the house then we must raise the porch and that seemingly covers

all the height options!  But wait, we need to enlarge or raise the windows on the second floor or it will appear they

are sitting on top of the porch., as we did not allow for the increased interior ceiling height required for the addition

of a couple of stairs!  We must now raise  the windows and there we go, so on, and so on…

Not only did we give the client what  they said they wanted, we also cost them a great deal of money and

halted construction.  All the while, they needed the home completed in a very short time,

as they must provide shelter to the family.

My point be it ever so simple, is do not go outside of the house!  Do not change the plan and

most importantly do not be tempted, by the desire to be a nice guy or a nice gal, to walk into an

exception that breeds difficulty.  It can undermine the ability to have a safe, secure and comfortable home.

Always KEEP THE END IN MIND.  The contract is built to deliver safety and comfort.

The contract is built to provide a safe environment to buy and sell homes.  The contract is built for the

protection of all ethical people.  Don’t step outside of the contract, thinking you know better.  If you are

tempted, advise your client to seek third party assistance, this is not your vision or expertise.

We enjoy our industry and we need to operate beyond reproach.  Often times, we might displease someone

along the line, but we can prevent harm to a greater degree by staying within our boundaries then stepping

outside.

This also holds true, in other avenues of our industry, i.e. tax questions, comprehensive plans of the city,

investment opportunities and creative financing.  Be the source of the information not the creator and not

the interpreter.  If the client / customer needs information from the county, provide the name and phone number

do not provide the information as fact, as the story often changes when you talk to the next county administrator,

or another architect, or an opposing attorney.

Keep the safety, security and comfort of the contract intact.

Do not be tempted to step outside of the house. Do not be the nice guy that gives the wrong information.

Rely and recommend the professionals, the surveyor, the title examiner, the home inspector and the

attorney.  We have a house (experience and knowledge) and we can share our house (experience and

knowledge) with the propr expectations of our abilities. We can provide safe, secure and comfortable

housing if we stay inside the contract.

This has been a wild and crazy summer for me, and for most of us from what I hear and see!  As I am pleased to be looking at the routine of the autumn life – it seems strange.  Strange to look forward to routine.

The craziness of the world touts adventures.  I love adventures. and riches, and I love riches too!  Good food and laughter…. but was is the meaning of it all, if you walk away and don’t remember.

I know many of us, maybe even most of us, don’t remember much in the details.  I do remember the feelings!  I remember I liked that movie, but I can’t tell you what it was about.  I might remember a picnic, and the smell of the recently cut grass or a visit to a friend’s home while sitting on the cool porch swing.  The feelings are tied to the heart and when the heart is open, for laughter or pain, then life is worth living.

My husband, Michael, and I have gone through many tribulations in the past seasons and our love and dedication seems fuller.  I thought our love and romance would be better with vacations in Jamaica, and sunsets on the beach but the days I remember are the conquering or the relief or the sweetness of a walk holding hands!

I have two gentlemen in my life pass away recently and one little baby boy born into my life.  What does it matter we might say?  Is it for riches and progress, for fame and power… or is it for relationships.  For without love we have nothing.

Have you had difficult times?  Do you remember looking at things which were once valuable to you personally then … and now, it makes no matter.  Without love there is nothing.

Not self love, not pride, though it is joyful to feel a sense of accomplishment.  Accomplishment truly comes when we reach out to others!  When we say, what can I do for you today?  Can you say that, to someone today?

What can I do for you today?

Awesome, to have the unexpected kindness land in your path on this day, and although you cannot determine when you are the recipient of such kindness, you can initiate!  You can START!   If the meaning of life, is how many people you have affected – then affect someone today!  Give someone a smile, someone a nod, someone a good day!  Give another a shoulder to cry on, and another an extended hand.  Give the worker gratitude, and the elder honor, and the youth wisdom.  Give your family the gift of not complaining when you go home!  and give your dog a hug!    Life is short – don’t waste it on yourself – share it!  Experience joy!
